Os cortes salariais foram cancelados e o primeiro-ministro renunciou após tentar enganar o povo. Outros 100.000 trabalhadores finlandeses devem entrar em greve esta semana, causando perdas de centenas de milhões de euros na produção, como parte das negociações de contratos no setor industrial.
Nada disso, entretanto, significa dizer que a Finlândia é uma sociedade socialista completa. Definitivamente poderia e deveria ser mais socializado e de esquerda do que é. Mas, ao dizer isso, não devemos perder de vista a diferença entre a Finlândia e os Estados Unidos. Para corresponder ao modelo econômico finlandês, os Estados Unidos precisariam não apenas construir um estado social-democrático de bem-estar, mas também socializar US$ 35 trilhões em ativos, sindicalizar 120 milhões de trabalhadores e transferir 25 milhões de trabalhadores para o setor público.
